This website informs about the upcoming 2017 conference of the Journalism Studies Section of the European Communication Research and Education Association, ECREA.
Conference theme: Changing audiences, changing journalism
The public plays an increasingly important role in the news making process, and boundaries between news producers and consumers are blurring. The empowerment of the audience poses new theoretical, empirical and normative questions. Besides papers focusing specifically on such questions, we welcome papers dealing with journalism and news work in the broadest sense.
Information for presenters: Each presenter will have 15 minutes for their presentation. All conference rooms are equipped with projectors, but not necessarily with a computer. You would ideally bring your own computer or bring your presentation on a memory stick and ask one of the other presenters if you can use their computer.
The deadline for registration has passed.
The conference takes place at the Centre for Journalism at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, Denmark, on 23 and 24 March 2017. Read more about the venue here. For more information on transportation to Odense and the university click here.
About the Journalism Studies Section of ECREA:
The purpose of the Journalism Studies Section of ECREA is to support academic research that deepens understanding of the cultural, political, economic, social and professional aspects of journalism. Its main objective is to promote research on occupational, regulatory, ethical, technological, political, commercial, cultural and educational factors in journalism.
The Journalism Studies Section aims to create a forum for dialogue between academics and practitioners from different disciplines and theoretical perspectives, who employ a variety of research methodologies to investigate aspects of journalism across different types of media, media content and geographical regions.
